for akshay

so we sit
and throw our tantrums
crying like spoiled children;
stupidly
noisily
impolitely
screaming
screaming
for justice.

while the mai-baap government
plods steadily on
grand as a sunset
and inevitable
as death.

Here's another poem,

Tu Jish Jhande ko Aidiya jodh kar deyta hai salami
Hum lute huon ka koi bhi dard ka itehaas
Uske teen rango se bhi bada gehra hai,

Hamari Aatma ke har ekh jakhm,
Uss jhande ke beech ke chakre se bade hain,,

Mere dost, main tere keelo wale booto se jhakmi hokar bhi,
Mount Everest se bada uucha hoon,,

Seepahi, kahoo kya tumhe bhi mein itna khatarnaak dhikhai deta hoon,
Bhai! such to batana,
meri ugdhi hui chamdhi aur mere mooh se bhete lahu mein tumhe,
kuch apna nahi dhikhai deta?

You have the gift of using precisely the right words without excess. Like the best poems, this one arrives, says what it has to say and departs without any further ado!
